Compress an image to 10–20 KB

The size is set to 10–20 KB: choose a photo and get a JPG that fits it, made in your own browser. Change the size if your form asks for another.

Forms whose documents ask for this size: SSC CGL 2026 · Signature, IBPS PO/MT-XVI · Signature.

The size the form asks for

Forms count a KB as 1,000 or as 1,024 bytes; the file is made to pass either way.

Exact size in pixels (optional)

Leave empty to keep the photo's own shape. With both, the photo is cropped to fill them: from its centre, or where you move the frame.

Or in centimetres

Dots per inch, if the form names them: the file says it too. With a size in cm, the pixels are worked out from it.

Name and date on the photo (optional)

Printed in black on a white strip under the photo, inside its size, as some forms ask. Use it only if your form's own instructions say so. The name is not kept in this browser.

Drop photos here

or paste one (Ctrl+V or ⌘V)

or take a new one with the camera

JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF or BMP; HEIC where your browser opens it (Safari). The result is a JPG.

The part of the photo to keep

Drag the frame over the part to keep, or move it with the arrow keys. Zoom in to keep a smaller part of the photo.

How it works

  1. Set the size the form asks for: a common size, or the minimum and the maximum it gives, in KB.
  2. If the form gives a size in pixels too, fill in the width and the height.
  3. Choose, drop or paste one photo or many; each is fitted at once, with its size before and after.
  4. Download each JPG, or all of them as one ZIP. Change the size and every photo is fitted again.

Why this one

The minimum counts too
A form that asks for 10–20 KB refuses a 6 KB file as well as a 30 KB one. Here a file under the minimum is made up to it, so it passes both checks.
Both kinds of KB
A form may count a KB as 1,000 or as 1,024 bytes. The file is kept under the smaller maximum and over the larger minimum, so it passes whichever the form means.
The best picture that fits
The quality is lowered first and the size in pixels only when it has to be, and you see the exact size in bytes, not a rounded guess.
Nothing is uploaded
Your ID photo and your signature are made smaller by your own browser and never leave your device.

Questions

How do I make a photo exactly 20 KB?

Set «At most» to 20 (or press 20 KB) and add the photo. The JPG you get is the best quality that stays under 20 KB, and its exact size is shown in bytes.

The form says 10–20 KB. What do I enter?

At least 10 and at most 20, or press 10–20 KB. A photo that would come out smaller than 10 KB is made up to it, so the form accepts it.

My photo is already small. Does it get worse?

No. A JPG that already fits is given back as it is, with no second loss of quality; one under the minimum is only made up to it.

What if it cannot fit?

If even the smallest version is over the maximum, the page says so instead of giving you a file the form would refuse. Allow a larger size or fewer pixels.

Can I do a signature and a photo at once?

Yes, add both; but each form box usually has its own size, so fit them one size at a time and download each.

Why is the result a JPG?

Forms that ask for a size in KB almost always ask for a JPG, and a JPG reaches a small size with the least loss. A transparent part turns white.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser; nothing is sent to us or anyone.
